BOTOX® Cosmetic

As the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world, BOTOX Cosmetic’s benefits are widely known. Getting results that look natural, though, requires injectors with the expertise and knowledge of facial anatomy to make precise injections that address your specific concerns. Our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Andrew Rosenthal and Dr. Michael Plastini, perform BOTOX injections at our Boynton Beach, FL, practice.

How Does BOTOX Work?

BOTOX, along with similar treatments like Dysport® and XEOMIN®, all belong to a category of drugs called neuromodulators. They are all approved by the FDA and work by temporarily immobilizing the muscles used when you change facial expressions. This minimizes the appearance of these “expression lines,” also called dynamic wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, vertical worry lines between the eyes, and forehead wrinkles.

What Happens During a Treatment?

After discussing your specific concerns, the doctor applies a topical anesthetic that numbs the treatment area, so you’ll remain comfortable during the injections. Each injection lasts only a second or two and feels like a small pinch. The treatment itself typically takes less than 30 minutes and requires no downtime. The number of injections depends on the treatment area or areas and how much BOTOX, Dysport, or XEOMIN is needed to produce the desired results.

What’s the Difference Between BOTOX, Dysport, & XEOMIN?

There are far more similarities than differences between BOTOX, Dysport, and XEOMIN. Each works by limiting the movement of facial muscles, and the results last for a comparable amount of time—about 3 or 4 months. Dysport spreads faster than BOTOX, which makes it effective for larger treatment areas such as the forehead. BOTOX is effective when more precision is needed. The cost of the products is also similar. Some patients see better results with one option compared to others.

What’s the Difference Between BOTOX and Dermal Fillers?

Both BOTOX and dermal fillers are both treatments to reduce signs of aging, but they work differently. Fillers target wrinkles caused by the loss of volume that occurs as we age. These static wrinkles—compared to the dynamic wrinkles treated by BOTOX—include nasolabial folds, undereye troughs, and hollow or flattened cheeks. We often combine BOTOX and filler injections during a treatment to produce comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

How Much Does BOTOX Cost in Boynton Beach?

The cost of BOTOX, Dysport, and XEOMIN injections depends on the amount needed to produce the optimal results and the number of areas being treated. We’ll provide a price quote after discussing your concerns and goals.

Does BOTOX Prevent Wrinkles?

Getting BOTOX injections at the earliest signs of aging can help delay the development of wrinkles. This “preventative BOTOX” technique is becoming more popular with patients in their late 20s. Because BOTOX works by limiting the muscles that cause wrinkles, earlier injections prevent the wrinkles from developing.
